BD Discardit® II syringe with needle is a sterile disposable syringe designed for subcutaneous, intramuscular, and deep intravenous injections. This medical tool also can be used for aspiration of corporal fluids for laboratory testing.

Description
BD Discardit® II syringe with needle is manufactured by Becton Dickinson. This medical device is used to inject medical fluids into the subcutaneous tissues (to the layer of fat right under the skin and above the muscles), muscles, and veins, as well as to aspirate the biofluids (like blood) from the body for testing or other medical use. BD Discardit® II syringe is comprised of a needle with a protective cap on it, a barrel of 2 or 5 ml in volume, and a plunger. The needle attached to this syringe is a standard hypodermic needle 25 mm in length and 0,55 mm in width (24 gauge), that provides less pain and damage to the tissues comparing to the thicker needles.
How to use BD Discardit® II syringe with needle:
1. Wash your hands with soap. Make sure you are working in a clean area.
2. Choose the area to be injected. Make sure the skin there is not broken or inflamed.
3. Sanitize the injection site with an alcohol cotton wool. Let it dry.
4. Remove the plastic cap from the vial with your medication.
5. Wipe off the rubber part on the top of the medication bottle with alcohol cotton wool. Let it dry.
6. Remove the plastic cap from the needle and insert it into the rubber seal of the vial. Push the plunger down making sure the air from the syringe gets inside of the bottle.
7. Turn the bottle with the syringe inserted upside-down. Make sure the medicine in the covers the needle.
8. Pull the plunger back to the required number of milliliters (measure from the top of the plunger).
9. Remove the needle from the medication bottle.
10. Check the syringe for air bubbles. To remove them, tap the syringe so the air bubbles rise to the top and push up on the plunger so the air leaves the syringe. Recheck the dose and add more medication to the syringe if necessary.
11. Carefully replace the cap on the needle.
12. Place the syringe between your thumb and first finger. Let the syringe lean on your second finger.
13. Hold the syringe tightly and carefully perform the injection: insert the needle into the injection site considering the required angle and depth and push the plunger down to inject the medicine.
14. After you have injected the solution, remove the needle at the same angle you put it in. Gently wipe the area with the gauze pad.
15. Dispose of the used syringe safely. Wash your hands.
