Finax® is indicated to treat androgenetic alopecia (AGA or male pattern hair loss (MPHL)) in adult men. AGA is a hereditary (inherited) condition where hair follicles get shrinker and eventually stop producing new hair at all. Finax® is able to inhibit the hormone which affects the follicles, thereby halting hair fall and promoting hair growth.

Active Ingredient
Description
Finax® is manufactured by Dr. Reddy's.
Male pattern baldness is a hereditary condition, that affects the vertex of the scalp and anterior mid-scalp. It happens when the male sex hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) binds hair follicles making them miniaturize and atrophy.
Finasteride is a trichogenic agent that inhibits the enzyme type 2 5-alpha reductase, which is what converts testosterone into the potent androgen 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT). That is why Finasteride is also called an oral type II 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor.
When the levels of DHT are reduced by Finasteride (by up to 60%), hair loss is ceased and hair growth is renewed.
Finasteride dose approved for the treatment of BPH is 5 mg (Finast®, Fincar®, Proscar®, Prosteride®). Finasteride 5 mg is an off-label use to treat another medical condition like female hirsutism (in non-pregnant women with PCOS or with idiopathic hirsutism).
Dosage
Finax® for the MPHL treatment is available in tablets. Each tablet contains 1 mg of Finasteride.
Take one tablet orally (by mouth) once a day, with or without food.
You should take the Finax® at the same time every day.
Take Finax® daily for at least 3 months or more if necessary before any noticeable results occur.
If Finax® has not worked for you over a 12 months course then it is unlikely that further treatment will benefit.
Do not stop taking Finax® suddenly, as any therapeutic benefits will be reversed.
Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you want to stop the treatment before time or if you are intended to prolong treatment.

If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not exceed the doctor's recommended dose.
